Useful Tips

• Discuss with your venue the timings for the when the artists can arrive and set up and when the performances must finish. Many venues request a midnight closure.

• Dedicate a friend or member of the family to liaise with the entertainers on the day.

• To encourage singing at the ceremony, position some choir members amongst the congregation.

• For less-experienced public speakers, the use of a table-top PA system could make all the difference to them being heard towards the back of the room or marquee.

• If you have a special and meaningful song, let us know well in advance so we can advise your DJ or band.

• Having a small selection of refreshments for the artistes during their breaks will be gratefully received and ensure they feel welcome.

• Live music artists usually perform for two sets, each consisting of between 45 minutes and 1 hour.

• Complement the live artists with a DJ to keep the momentum going during breaks and prevent a ‘lull’ in the proceedings, as CD music put on by bands during their breaks is not always dynamic enough to keep the party atmosphere.

• If you are planning a range of activities over the course of a few days, hiring a PA system through Kernow Entertainments, which would enable you to play your own CDs is an efficient and cost effective way of providing light background entertainment.

• If you are having children to the wedding, try and incorporate a mini entertainment schedule for them. Happy kids – happy parents – less-stressed wedding party!

• If you have always dreamed of having fireworks but your venue is sited near livestock or a residential area – silent fireworks might be the solution.
